Default MOT time

Well its that time of year (actually passed without me remembering so its now urgent to sort the car)

Work to do that I know needs doing before the MOT are
1) Cracked rear drivers side spring
2) Cracked windscreen (not covered by insurance )
3) Brakes in need of attention (new pads and/or discs)

I am not sure if I can afford any of this!
I am based in London. I am going to try the free Audi MOT thing to find out if anything else needs fixing.

Any help/recomendations welcome!

Are you sure the brakes won't pass the mot, they only need to be working and not scraping, its an MOT not a service.

Windscreen, thats a pain obviously insurance is easiest way but A8 parts may be able to help.

Rear spring is easy enough I think, again A8 parts.

Yes, give the guys a call and I'm sure we can help (01642 710010)

We cant ship the windscreen though as its big, delicate and can't be insured in transit but I'm doing a lot of commuting to Birmingham at the moment, so we might be able to get it half way......

Thanks Ian.

TBH I might be in the position to do a naughty, as the insurance is due in a couple of months I might get it through an mot if I beg a friend of a friend.

As for the rear spring I would rather have it fitted as well...... but I think i know someone who can fit it.

The brakes arent scrapping, but the pad warning message has been on for months so i do need it looked at asap!

Can anyone recommend a well priced 8 specalist?

I want to take it somewhere and just drive in drive out with everything sorted
Rear drivers side Spring
Oil leak
brakes

I dont mind driving somewhere as I travel a fair bit for work, as long as it can be done while I wait.

Any suggestions?

Hi E.L.M.O

You could always take it to Ben at AVP. Not used him personally yet but from the recommendations on the Forum I wouldn't think twice about it.

AVP it is. I drive from Plymouth to Burton Upon Trent so I get the peace of mind. Ben gets my vote and you can drink coffee and watch from the gallery!

Yeah I think I will take it to AVP for a look over and a full service soon.

Got someone who can fix the rear spring and do the brakes for me now, but I would like it tuned up sometime soon. Will give AVP a call and find out what the cost of a service is.

MOT is done. Its passed, but has a few advisories.

CV gaitors
Ball joints (I did wonder what that knocking was when i went over a few bumps....)

The brakes have been done, well pads are done discs will be done by the time I pick it up. Mine has S8 discs on it and the parts company sent out A8 discs event though S8 discs were ordered. I guess they did it by Reg number and sent out the parts the computer told them.

So for rear brake discs, pads all round, mates and MOT its cost me £410. not to bad?
I wonder how much the CV gaitors and ball joints will cost.....?

I cant wait to get it back! It might actually stop when I want it to now as well! Next year I want to get the strip on the drivers door fixed (one of the clips has broken, so it ever so slightly bends out where the door opens) the windscreen will be fixed and by then the CV gaitors and ball joints should have been done and the car should be back in pristine condition once its had its full valet.

EDIT:
one thing that is on my mind is that i have been told there is an oil leak from the rear diff..... >_<
