Anybody who bought shares around the time of the Model S's launch should be rubbing their hands together in the last couple of months! If you're a short-term trader then would be time to quit while ahead before the goings on in China affect the Shanghai factory's production?

Was over in Dublin yesterday (work) and got picked up by the supplier in his new Tesla S (P100D):

I asked him how has it been and he mentioned that has had it that the whole dashboard froze while he was reversing, looking at the camera and almost knocked over some school children as the image on the camera didn't update and show them!!!!

Plus, when it was time to be taken back to the airport, we all got in and the headlamps came on, but nothing on the screens.........
He put it in reverse, and it moved so proceeded to drive out of the carpark. After about 1 minute the dash showed it was rebooting and eventually came on.

Hmm........

Was pointed to this today - makes for an interesting view, if you want to compare range on some common-ish EV options (includes the Audi e-tron, Jag, Nissan, Merc, Kia, Tesla 3)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH7V2tU3iFc

Tesla went the furthest but the Kia was 2nd for a more affordable option

The Kia is a great car, though sadly the supply is severely limited, so waiting time for them to date has been really long....

Default Any good? - possibly

I'm not sure how any other car would have reacted to this, but there's no doubt what these crash occupants think.

Default I'm still waiting...

Nearly 5 years on, and Audi's strategy has so far only managed to come up with a half-baked compromise based on an existing Audi SUV, released to market half-finished (just search for the recalls to date already...), with half-baked performance (waay slower than even "old" Teslas), and way less than a halfway house of a charging network.

What happened to "the technology already exists", and "watch this space"? I'm still watching and waiting, and it looks like too little, too late.

And don't get me start on the Porsche - a car who's two USPs seems to be (a) charging at a superfast network that doesn't exist, and the (b) ability to do repeatable ludicrous launches, which will appeal to about 14 people in total

I confess, I'm struggle to understand what they are messing about at too.

I think, they are struggling to throw away 100 years of automotive 'this is how we make a car' and start from scratch.

I heard the ID3, whilst physically built in their thousands, simply don't work. They are awaiting software. And not over the air software at that. None of the existing bosch modules understand how to talk to a non-ICE drivetrain, but VAG went ahead and used them anyway because to re-invent the wheel themselves they consider too hard.

I am climbing the walls waiting for the Model Y to arrive to I can bin off the Q7, but to be honest, that's going to take too long, so I do predict I'll have a model X or 7 seat Model S within the next 6 months.

Its absolute fiscal lunacy not to.

The budget has just firmed up the expected 0% BIK and as a lovely bonus, has removed the luxury car tax from 100% EV's, regardless of list price.

There shouldn't be a company director or company car driver in the UK not driving a Tesla imo.

I do feel slightly guilty that the Model 3 is so good. It really should be more expensive to be honest. I just got a new update this morning with track mode V2, which sadly I can't use yet as my foot is in a pot - but I am looking forward to the switchable front/rear/4 wheel drive, G meter etc.

Meanwhile, my Q7 has the same tiny screen and outdated firmware it shipped with 5 years ago. Nothing changed. Nothing updated. Not even possible.

They are worlds apart.

Interesting article on ultracapacitors

Meanwhile Audi can't even work out how to build an e-commerce web site

I could not agree more with the above Audi have this very wrong with the E-Tron.

They are as far away from the high points of the A8 & A2 than they have been in their history.

Mile per kWh is 2.0 on the ETron also which is frankly terrible where Nero/ Kona type cars are at 3.5 miles per KwH.

Surely long term ownership models, light as possible vehicles and maximum miles for the energy charged into them should be the right engineering direction for this?

How can Audi possibly market and encourage us we all should rush out and buy something new that is the size of a Star Destroyer, massively overweight and that inefficient?

Plus this is what we should be doing to help the planet?

Clever, light, efficient electric cars should be the push here and Tesla are doing many things right here as an ownership prospective. Ownership models and keeping cars long term has an impact to all of this also, dare I suggest buying a new Hybrid Range Rover on finance and trading it in every two years for another new one might not be the best environmental move.
