Default Dimmable mirrors

Hi

You might have seen this thread already but I am newbie here

To start with. When I had old battery my external mirrors automatically dimmed when i started the car(abit annoying as the were abit dark even in the night time), but not the interior one. I replaced battery and all mirrors are bright (as without dimm function) however when the car shine lighs behind me they get kind of greenish color. They dont dimm in a strong sunny day neither.
I read the sensor should be located within the interior mirror facing front and another one facing rear. I wonder if new mirror would solve my issues or if there is something else to check first.

A8 d3 2003 3.7 petrol

Thank you

The sensor is indeed in the middle of the rear view mirror, at the top iirc. Hold your hand over it at night when you have headlights behind you and you'll see it working.

They won't dim in daylight but the electrochromatic coating in the side mirrors might have blown. So if the side mirror glass is looking a bit brown then it's time to relplace it.

Hi thanks for a reply..
covering the sensor does not make any difference at all.

The side mirrors are bright and clear as new, after replacing the battery..
Before I could see they automatically darkened with turning the key, with switching off the key they brightened back up. It was very annoying at night.

I love the full light in the side mirrors atm however i would like the autodimm function back
I found a thread side mirrors get darkened during strong sunlight.
