Anyone need either a Concert head unit or Alpine CD changer?

Hi all

My Dad's pulled the fully functional single DIN Concert head unit (the tape one with central volume control that you push in to switch the radio off) and matching Alpine 6 CD changer with Audi interface unit from his A4 2.4 that's off to the knackers yard tomorrow.

The head unit doesn't suffer from the well known volume control issue.

The CD changer was bought new when my Dad acquired the A4 some years ago, but he's more of a Radio 2 listener so the changer only got used on long runs. It's basically as new.

Radio is supplied with manual and code.

No idea what it's worth - prices on ebay are all over the place, so if you're interested drop me a message and will try to sort a fair price out.

Adrian, what's wrong with the A4? Is it still in decent shape?

I am interested in radio as mine is having the famous volume issue when cold. Not prepared to pay much though as the volume problem is very common and could happen very soon to the one I buy. That's why I have not bought another one. Were thinking of changing faulty memory chip but never got around it.

It's a front wheel drive with auto box and there's nasty transmission whine and loss of drive under certain conditions. Combined with 100k miles plus, poverty SE spec with manual rear windows and cloth seats, couple of scrapes etc it just isn't worth spending any money on it - even in decent condition it's only worth about a grand.

It's a shame as the engine's decent for a 2.4. Have offered it to a couple of local specialist breakers but they don't want it.

My Dad's removing the wheels and battery tomorrow when it's dropped off - I want the battery but the wheels will be sold.

Shame it's FWD. I wasn't bothered about body condition, auto box etc, as it's a project car.

I hate resurrecting ancient threads but this is intriguing, since the cold weather has started my volume control is all over the place, it starts loud, turn the volume down and it goes to full on blasting disco mode. Is this the "famous volume control problem" referred to here? My 11 yr old thinks it's fine when the radio is tuned to Capital FM, but I'm too old and deaf already to risk my hearing.

I note there's mention of a memory chip fix ?
