A8 screenwash and headlight washer not working
Hi was wondering if someone could help with a few issues.
1. Screenwash and headlight washers aren't working. I checked fuses but seem ok. Was wondering if there is a relay for the washer pumps. If so wer is it. If not would be the next step in checking for a fault... 2. I m not sure if this is related or a seperate issue my air con is blowing hot air through t driver side vent.... Are the two relate or do I need to do someting different for the sitcom. Last edited by RanjS8; 18th May 2010 at 09:31 PM. Reason: put it in wrong place by mistake |

1 - Could be the pump itself... It's reasonably easy to get to, so check that it's getting 12v when you pull the stalk, but they are prone to failure.
2 - Aircon - Could be a stuck motor.. You got access to VCDS? That would likely tell you which one it is.

How do you remove the screenwash bottle?
Well i pulled the bumper today to check if I was getting voltage to the pump....and true enough i was getting power to both....
So next step replacing the pumps..... Surprised that both went....was wondering how do you take the bottle out?? Because I read somewhere that sometime gunk can build up at the bottom of the tank and that may be the culpri for both failing... |

if someone in the past has used washing up liquid in the washers that can really cause some foul smelling sludge to build up and completely ruin washer systems, all the pipe work and pumps will be clogged ith it. Always use a good screen wash additive, apart from the sludge washing up liquid is full of salt that can also wreak havok with all kinds of bits of cars. I'm sure someone on here will know if it may be possible to remove the pumps then flush out with a hose in the top? Anyone?
