Grumble - Parts Nicked !!!

Hi Guys,

I nipped into my mechanic yesterday to get him to order up parts for an LPG service. On comming out and opening the bonnet, i noticed *BOTH* the grills round my fog lights are missing. Not the lights or anything else, just the grills ???

Why would someone do that to a 2000 S8 ???

Are they rare ??? Will they fit on another car ??? Are the A8/S8's that cheap that grotty chavs are buying them and nicking parts from each other ???

I'm quite shocked !

I can see a call to A8parts in my very near future.....they also seem to have a bit of trim i'm missing on ebay at the mo.

Oh, so it's not just me then. I thought I must have lost it driving somewhere...

I went to Bolton this morning, left the car in the usual spot, had no problems previously. Was only away for 40mins, got back and my foglight grill had disappeared too.

Why would people be nicking them.....I don't see the point ???

Have i missed some Rap star wearing them round thier neck !

Both mine are missing. Not swiped but more likely coming off speed bumps to fast.

Yeh, I lost one too and had to get a replacement from the stealers. A8 Parts didn't have one at the time. Apparently they fall out easily, are quite expensive to replace and some owners - hopefully none here - just go out a nick them. Use a black cable tie to deter the tea leaves - they're easy to fit and you don't really need to make any mods, although some of us have drilled a small hole in the grill rather than just wrap the tie around a grill slat.

I've had to replace mine four times! I just cannot stand seeing the car with pieces missing. On RS forums some have had the ali wing mirrors nicked which are around £600 quid!

I agree, its a shame if its another 8 owner. Keep an eye on eBay.

I had to replace one a while ago - there are 2 piece ones (earlier FL) and one piece larger ones (later FL) If i remember correctly mine were the former and were about £55 for one side for 2 pieces, the larger ones are about £60 each new
