Got some eBay ones in the A8. £60 or so, lasted over a year and still going strong...

I thought HID lighting was high intensity discharge, as in plasma. Plasma lighting being very white, bright and illuminating (unlike me) Wheras H stands for Halogen as in the old style Halogen lighting, less white and illuminating than HID.
When people talk about Xenon lights I thought that they were referring to Gas discharge (HID) lights and not H for Halogen.

well the mrs phoned me earlier today to tell me the postman had woke her with a parcel from china for me. i knew it would be the new hid lights that i ordered from ebay a few days ago. worked my butt off today just so i could finish work early and get home to fit my new lights. got home and opened my parcel to see a nice new set of hid lights just as ordered. got all my tools out and started to pull bits off the car so i could find a suitable place to fit the metal ballasts. these are for my front fog lights so i had to take off the lower front grills and remove the hole of the fog light assembly. the glass on the front is badly scatched but i will have a go at pollishing the glass later. i just wanted to get the new bulbs in so i could see what they looked like. it was just at that point when i had the fog light in my hand i noticed the bulb did not look the same as the new ones in the box. it shouldnt be a problem as i have already asked what type to get and had been told to get "H3" and as stated on the box i did have "H3". so i decided to remove the bulb from the fog light and check the numbers only to find a big black number saying "H7". So the question is does anybody want to buy a brand new set of "H3" hid conversion lights "cheap" ?
back to ebay now to order a pair of "H7"

Don't worry Darren. You should be able to pick up some H3 bulbs on Ebay for not a lot. The current ballast should still work. If you want them fast make sure you are dealing with a UK seller and not one from China. I know the feeling though mate, you must be gutted.

This may seem a bit weird but I was in TK Maxx (yes shopping with the missus) yesterday and they have H7 blue bulbs for the grand price of £2.99.

I think they had about 3 sets. Let me know if you're interested I'll pick them up for you.
