TPS just returned to me: 4D0 941 299 A is not available to order.
For the first time I hit the problem of non-availability of genuine parts

Looking at eBay used parts are available, which makes me believe that this part doesn't fail that often.

Well that's unfortunate. The S8 I'm working on at the moment goes through one a year apparently. The one that's on it now is verging on seized but is still usable.

I might need to come up with a solution sooner than expected...

Reference your other posts Sergei, its the curved rear arm I am after (4D0 505 465G) and, as I said in my post of 25th Aug, TPS declared it obsolete and unobtainable. Used parts usually include the sensor which I dont need and, anyway, they are usually in a poor and corroded state. Which is why I was going to follow MJs suggestion and manufacture a stainless replacement...... Or wait for MJ to start a production line

I talked to my TPS and they told me:

4D0941299A -- obsolete
4D0941299 -- available, £21.15 +vat
4D0505465G -- available, £34.68 +vat

Both are back order from Germany with no E.T.A.

I told them to go ahead and order those. Let's see what will happen.

Thats interesting as BrianG called TPS and they quoted a price to him but when the garage he uses went to order it for me they told them that it was obsolete and unavailable. I'll try again

That may be correct Dave. Sometimes their database does not reflect actual availability. They will simply decline to supply when it'll become clear to them, but for some strange reason they'll never update their system to reflect that the part is no longer there. Let's see what TPS will return with. This can last 2-3 weeks now.

If anyone has used front arms with reasonable metal clips then please let me know. I may make a small batch of ball-jointed arms by modifying the original clip after electrolytic de-rusting and re-plating. Ultimately the goal has to be manufacturing new clips once the factory ones are gone.

Parts that I ordered were delivered today by TPS.

Looks like proper Audi parts ARE still available

Part ordered through my indy on Tuesday arrived today from Germany.
Oh, and it operates as smooth as silk compared with my old one.
Should be good for another 15yrs then! To be fitted tomorrow.
