Lanoguard…..rear subframe…?
I keep seeing Lanoguard pop up on my FB feed. MOT last month reminded me that the rear SF is getting a bit crusty. Is it worth cleaning up and weather-proofing a bit, or am I going to just trap moisture and make things worse?
Ta, Zip

Marcel and I have been using the Bilt Hamber equivalent inside the rear subframes, after powdercoating them. Not sure it would make any difference on the outside though.

That thing is useless and only popular because the company behind it is pumping loads of money into FB ads, treating an already rusting subframe with that is like using one of those mould pens on your bathroom's grouting, just a waste of money.

Fair enough….
Anything worth doing to the subframe, Mikki, before I get it down to you one day for the full WITW treatment….?! Zip

it all depends on what he means by (a bit crusty)
that could be small or a lot depending on the person looking at it they usually rust heavily on all the welds taking it off is the best long term solution (MJ project for powder coating) or this is what i did on my A6 i used a 4" twist knot wire brush on my hand grinder i bought several wire brush wheels that fit in my drill and hand wire brushes fetling away for hours then using a toothbrush to get in all the awkward areas i applied rust killer (hammerite kurust) then i painted with hammerite paint and lastly waxoyled inside and out.. 4 years on it still looks very good you need a ramp and a very dry garage too sadly most audis suffer from this even my friends 2015 A6 C7 is now Very Crusty but hes not bothered like most people they cant see it and probably never will..

There is no point putting anything on top of a crusty surface, but if you spend the time cleaning the rust off and apply Lanoguard as per instructions it will preserve the underside for many years to come
This is before and after cleaning of my old Volvo two years ago. There was no rust just 23 years of dirt accumulation. Cleaned with soapy water, turpentine, brushes, plenty cloths then when clean apply Chemical Guys Bare Bones to finish it off This is after Lanoguard was applied this year (2 years after cleaning)
