Ok so it's fixed, woo. It starts and drives.

Just to go back about my moneing about garages and mechanics all being crooks, they thrashed my car hard as my feul consuption had gone down by 7 mpg's and they only done 5 or 6 mile in it. Also charged me for a diag even after i told them i'd done it and there were no faults, only 25 notes but a bit of a stinger to pay 25 quid just to find out i'm not a liar, i already knew that.

So because they had the car for a couple of weeks i needed an MOT and asked them to put a ticket on it, this message was not clear enough and they actually failed it ffs, silly things too like horn not loud enough for other road users. Well they should have their own fecking horn and not be winging about mine.

So i picked it up on Friday and spent the day on it as i'm paraniod enough that they're all croocks, it now has a Landrover horn 2 new rear calipers, disks and pads.

And not a new 12 month ticket

Ok, it's going but..... Fuelled up last night before leaving home for work, i'd not gone far but stopped in a layby i could smell petrol.

Turns out that the tank leaks from the pump assy and it was running out, so not seated properly

Hmmmmm

There is no substitute for doing it on your drive in the rain, but it’s been just a little too wet for that at home.
But now I’m in Portsmouth I’m happy for anyone that wants to show me how it’s done to make me look an idiot

Some good info on elsaweb and audi world for this problem....

http://elsaweb.spaghetticoder.org/do...AAH/21395174/2

http://members.rennlist.com/drive944...ak_repair.html

The first suggest special tools are required; the second shows how, with a little ingenuity, it can be done without.

It's been done without special tools i think mine is leaking from the fuel pump assy to the tank and not out the sender. But it is hard to tell, it's so awkward and tight in there when the pump assy takes up all of the hole trying to get the seal in as well.

You can make your own 'special tool'. I have done couple now, it is a bit awkward to get it in correctly. Also the big rubber seal if the old one is reused is hard to get in correctly as it's soaked with petrol over time and larger then new. But it can be done with a bit of patience.

I got the seal in, in the end was very tricky tho. Just the pump assy is a bitch to get in with the seal and such tight access eh?

The seal was soaked in petrol along with me and the road.

4 hours in the boot, red faced and off it from the fumes and still the same as it was before, woo!
