Default WITW - The PF Exxon Valdez!

I bought another one Yes, thats nine. No I don't have a problem hush now

(actually I have a serious storage problem so I need to sell some stuff)

Its a 1998 PF, which is actually the first PF I've owned. I don't even get them in the workshop much. It was registered to VAG UK for its first year so I think it may have been a demo or press car, and as such it has many toys including blinds, auto mirrors, alcantara seats, satnav, ski bag, solar roof, rear parking sensors, and headlight washers. Its been with the same owner for the last 10 years or so and done very little mileage in that time. He bailed on it when the steering rack sprung a leak, and I couldn't let it go for scrap so I jumped on it. Its getting the treatment over the next couple of weeks and I'm hoping to have it for sale at AITP - no pressure then!

Some interior pics - it is a really lovely place to sit, and I am rather fond of it already.

Walnut wood which is a bit average, but I have some myrtle on the way

Black headlining

The rear blind actually works!

Ski bag

Complete first aid kit!

It has the threaded inserts in the floor for the tunnel brace, but for some reason just plugged up. Not sure if this is factory or someone has removed it? It'll get one fitted anyway.

Power steering oil everywhere

Its had a gearbox rebuild within the last 10K, and for some reason they seem to have sandblasted the whole gearbox, so the sump is in a right state. I'll get this blasted and powdercoated.

At some point, presumably when the gearbox was removed, the boss for the heat shield and exhaust hanger was broken off Not sure how I'll fix this - I may need to swap the rear casing, or it might be possible to weld it in place

So much leaking oil even BP is considering an apology

More leaks

and more

The undertray hangers are rather smooshed

Oh, more oil

The usual detritus

Its not terrible on top but it has been sprayed with the crappy lacquer that car dealers used to use to make engine bays shiny for the hour the punter was looking at the car The nasty crap has gone yellow and ruined pretty much everything it touched

More oil leaks!

Five original Avus 1 wheels with centre caps These were actually the reason I bought the car since they are so rare. Even if the car turned out to be a lemon, it was worth buying just for the wheels. These are in for refurb while its on the lift
