I'm a sucker for tyres.
Supersports shouldn't cost you more than £1100 for a set of four - the last ones I had were £275 (fitted, I think) at KwikFit, and that was just for two tyres, so you should get a bigger unit discount for 4....

Personally, I was quite happy with part worn pirrellis at 275 35 20....they are a soft tyre so are meant wear quicker, but I quite happily did about 20000 miles on them and didnt really have any issues.

Plus I was getting them at 60 quid a pop with about 6 mm....so that was a set of four for 250 max....brand new you are looking at a grand....which was a saving I was more than happy to make.

And to be realistic, in terms of everyday driving you are very unlikely to go above 90mph....unless you hate your licence.

Well, I had some bad news last night. I had mooted a move of department at work over on Pistonheads a while back, which tied in with my plans to buy a 106 Rallye and live the 'small car' life. The plan was, come summer, I would have my rubber stamped application in the department manager's hand and I'd be off to a new site, and a new role.

I was told on Monday night that on said department, a team was being disbanded and a new one was being scrambled from all the other teams. One man from every shift to be drafted to the new team on the department, in the very near future. I was picked from my shift to go. Good news and bad news, as I'm honoured to be the man with the shoulders wide enough and the balls big enough to take the job. Bad news as the site has a car park the size of a shoebox, on street parking is a no no and cycling is not an option.

I'm left in a quandry now. My plan was to buy a 106 Rallye, which I will still do, but the A8 needs to move sharpish. Because I could be starting at the new site sooner than I think, and the wife's car won't be available for long.

And it's away! One of the best barges I've had the pleasure of driving too. 7 Series, LS400, S Class...forget it! A8 is the one!

Default 1999 a8 d2 4.2

Well this thing changes hands quicker than a hot potato....and I have decided to move it on....so it is on ebay.....I can't think why it has never stayed with one owner for long....personally it has been a joy to own temporarily and I have done numerous trips around the country....

These include....trips from Newcastle to Skegness....Skegness to Rochdale (the 50 zone on the m62 is to be avoided at all cost especially at night when there is a diversion into Leeds)...an recently a trip to Lincoln and Doncaster.

Since I have owned it i have fixed the driver side window which was a switch/replaced the fresh air blower motor/and fixed a brake fluid leak.....it still has about a months tax and mot until November.

I have it on ebay at a buy it now of 2500, but am happy to reduce that for a forum member....

Oh I replaced the avus wheels with the Monoblocks for a slightly more standard look and comfort ride.

If interested get in touch 07525747277.

Only selling to make space for a diesel convertible.

Not keen on the new wheels to be honest!

Was a lovely car when I had it despite the minor issues. Only major issue I had was the alternator belt coming off. I paid for that to be sorted along with the cambelt / waterpump / thermostat, then foolishly sold at a loss not including the cost of the cambelt etc. Wish I could buy from a mug like me

Good luck with the sale.

Default Alloys

I agree the wheels seen everyone's cup of tea....but noted that the spare was standard and wanted the original wheels back on just out curiosity.....I have to say though drove up north last night in the pouring rain and it felt so sure footed and gracefully....absolutely awesome to drive.....I especially like the Bose it has to be the best I have experienced in any d2.

Default Reduced for quick sale

I have now reduced the buy it now to 1800 for quick sale....but will certainly consider offers close to that from forum members.
