There will always be an extra unoccupied connector; I read in Bentley in the "extras" or "Misc" or some other obscure place that there is a transport module in the left trunk panel which is plugged in for shipping the car which must be removed during prep.
I wanted to subscribe to this thread anyway since I have a friend who has a remote; now he "only" needs the MMI to have a remote MMI. He has the rear seat entertainment system. -Tom

So is it a different MMI module for the RSE then ? ..basicly I need to know everything I need for this because the donor car is being scrapped in two days !! So when its gone its gone if I need mmi module il have to go and get it.
Is that because it contains the reciver for the mmi remote ? I wander what it looks like on the mmi when you select the tv after the installation

I would try to get everything you can to do with the MMI from the car thats likely to be different. its possible the control head (MMI) is different, you need someone with RSE and the remote to VCDS scan the MMI control head so you can get the part number and software version.
Could you not rip out as much of the wiring loom from the donor as its being scrapped?

Perfect !! I can see what I am missing it seems to be the small silver box to the left of the navigation unit I do have a small brown connector that is missing something to connect to and it looks like that is the missing piece of the puzzle
 Question is what is it ? ....and its missing from the donor car ? Hmmm

Get everything you can from the car. All control boxes possible. Just in case. And any other cool stuff for us.

All done
All working perfect now .. Drove just under 1000 miles yesterday got the missing splitter box I needed and also fitted some monster brakes on Robertos D3

Yay, must head up your way sometime to see this working. There is a SWB D3 TDI for sale on AT right now that has RSE fitted.

Call me Dr Frankenstein for reviving this dead thread, but there is so very little info on the web regarding that remote's part number (4E0 035 207 C, with or without the "C"). I would love to add this to control the MMI in front so my kid can flip stations incessantly without wearing out the control panel. I see there is one post that mentions using the TV tuner module but it's not clear if that's only for the cars with RSE. It clearly states in the 2006 sales brochure there is a remote available for the front MMI, but googling its part number gives precious few results.
If we could find just one original remote, using a "learning" universal remote to "clone" it, we could all save our MMIs (assuming no $5000 module is needed)! .So, does anyone in this distinguished club have one, or any further knowledge, especially pertaining to D3's 2003-4 MY without RSE?
