Default Power steering/hydraulic fluid

Hello all

I have started getting a slight intermittent whine and believe it is low fluid level related and so want to check whether it needs a top up.
A search reveals the blighter is under the NS air box, is that correct?! Surely I don't have to remove an airbox to check a level and top up. Is there an easier way? Perhaps through the wheel arch liner?
In fact that's probably just as awkward......why isn't it just at the top of the engine bay LOL!

Assuming your on about a car with twin airboxes.

If it is then you do indeed need to remove the airbox.

You can see where it is on mine in this picture

Ahh, the price we pay for speed!

Could be worse... could start with the most-used phrase in the service manual:

1) remove engine

(Could be worse... Could be raining!)

A bit silly to have to remove airbox for this, but (German Accent) YOU SHOULD HAVE CHECKED DAS POWERSTEERINGFLUIDRESERVOIRLEVELOFLIQVID DURINK DAS LAST AIR VILTER REPLACEMENT. YOU VILL NOW BE TAKEN OUTSIDE UND SHOT; AVTA VICH YOU MAY BE SEVERELY REPRIMANDED!

Less than helpful, I know, but jealousy manifests itself in many ways.

Nice one Tomas

And you do really learn every day.
Guess who will be pulling his airbox out this weekend

It's an easy job, but make sure you have a very long neck Phillips screwdriver before you start, I didn't and had to go to Halfords midway through in the track car in order to continue lol
