The blade type fuses are standard and any motor factor will have them. Ring A8Parts for anything not listed on ebay, they'll have loads of them or might be able to pull them from a car breaking maybe. Also worth ringing you local stealer for a price on relay there might not be a lot in it.
Have a look here for the fuse locations CLICK ME have a look the the ones in the boot above the battery.

Sorry, missed that, suggests a wiring/fuse problem?

I have just attempted to recode the battery without success. I get an error saying 'Coding Rejected, Error 0E'. I used 11 digits off the new battery and a generic serial number which I got from the yuasa website. There was nothing in the list of vendors for yuasa either
I then done a few scans all with slightly different results. I have checked almost all the fuses from the owners manual and they all look to be fine (not blown). I have also noticed that the electric windows, air con\blower, and the blinds don't work but everything else does #Struggling Attached a pic of the MMI with most options under the 'car' menu greyed out - if I try and access one of them it says 'turn on ignition to modify' Last edited by A8L; 9th September 2015 at 08:31 PM. |

I think you now need to proceed to see what's happening with the relay for terminal 15.
If you drop the knee bolster below steering column, see my retrofit thread for ACC for how to do that and then remove the upper right relay on the relay carrier, inspect and test it and using the current flow diagram check to see if the relay is getting a control voltage to turn it on. You can also try bridging the terminals that would be switched to see if the ignition comes on.

Hi Dell - thanks mate, that is my next port of call.
once I have removed the knee thingy is the upper right relay the one labelled 370 with the yellow dot in the lower left corner on your pic? do I need any specific tools to test it, what am I looking for exactly - sorry to be a bit green but electrics is way over my head. bridging the terminals?? any pointers on how to try that ? thanks a lot |

As far as i can tell from the info I have and for that year the top right relay should be the one in question.
if your unsure about car electrics and such it would be best to find a friend that does to speed your fault finding up and keep it safe. But you could remove the relay and pry the cover open, then re insert the relay and you can then squeeze the switch plate together simulating it switching. But there are other test that can be carried out, and would need someone that knows what to check for. Sorry I can't guide you better but teach auto electrics over the internet is no easy task as I'm sure you can appreciate.

Thanks Del - I will give it a whirl and see what I can figure out. As you say I think its best to get an auto electrician to have a look as I am not confident messing with electrics.
I appreciate you cant really teach electrics diagnostic skills via a forum but thanks for your pointers. Anyone nr me looking to earn a few £££ testing There is an Audi specialist near me (Nigel Travis) but I can't move the car |

just a quick update
I have contacted Nigel Travis (http://nigeltravis.wix.com/nigel-travis-vw-audi) to see if he can help, he has worked on my 8 in the past and I was impressed so fingers crossed he can get to the bottom of the issue for me.. I'll post an update once I get a reply from him |

May I Ask What engine it is ?
I have actually fixed this issue before on a 4.2, By using a power probe to feed the Solenoid on the started, and with Ignition On inside the car it fired up, after doing this several times and allowing the car to fully heat up and drive 50 miles it didnt do it again, A8s do not like being stood Still for long at all, in this case the solenoid was stuck solid, so no click when turning on and no noise, it was as you said " Dead " other than electrics If you get stuck PM me and il see if i can help, and maybe take a look for you. |
