Default Trickle chargers - advice please

So...much as I still love my S8 (and my Fiat Coupe ), neither gets daily use these days, so I really need to invest in a trickle charger, and it needs to be one that I can connect and forget.

The CTEK MXS 5.0 seems like a good balance between cost and value/functionality - opinions please?

Cheers!

Also for CTEK from me. I have the MXS 10 which gets worked pretty hard keeping the fleet charged

The fixed battery monitor socket is very handy for trickle charging. I install them in the fuse panel cover on the right of the boot in D2s so handy to get to, and no permanent hole if you want to remove it later - just replace the cover. I think there's a pic near the end of Vera's 'What's in the workshop thread'.

Ive got a couple of CTEK MXS 5.0's and they are brilliant, I also recommend investing in the CTEK Comfort indicator panel which has a traffic light system showing red for needs charge, orange for charge soon and green for all ok - I would fit one in each car and it saves you haveing to take all the gubbins off to get to the battery etc and means the CTEK charger just plugs straight in!

Well timed tintin, as I have been considering purchasing two of these.

For those that have them, is anyone using them with the car outside (no garage), as I was wondering if you could string two of the 2.5m extension leads together with them.

EDIT: Forgot to add that the cheapest place I could find them was Amazon at £68.94

+1 for the CTEK MXS5. I use it on the 8 and the motorhome during the winter. (The van battery is not on the charging circuit from the mains line - just the leisure battery).

I did see a Yuasa charger which, apart from the label, was in no way any different from the CTEK 5. It was slightly cheaper but not enough to make me kick myself. Worth looking for as I am sure it was just a re-badged CTEK.

I have used it with one 2.5m lead and an eyelet connector. Can't see why you couldn't use two of them

Just checked on-line. This is a Yuasa YCX 0.8 charger for £48. Looks exactly like the CTEK ones BUT this is a lower spec than the MXS5 in that it's intended for use on batteries up to 100ah whereas the CTEK MXS5 is for batteries up to 160ah.

I purchased the CTEK indicator cable extension for the van which is very useful and the plain extension cables for the '8 to save, as Neil stated above, pulling panels etc.
