I used to do 3000rpm clutch-dump starts in my A6q when I was hillclimbing it. Thats essentially the exact same drivetrain as the factory S8 manual, and it took 210 diesel HP and 400 torques like a champ. I had to turn the ESP off though to allow it to light up the rear wheels It wasn't very quick up the hill, but it was impressive off the line

I reckon there's a good chance the S8 manual I'm about to build will get some serious stick once the clutch is bedded in nicely. If not, I'm entirely prepared to try it on my own car when I get round to converting that Certainly I'll be trying it in the FE biturbo which will definitely highlight any weak points...

I tried a couple of 2000-3000rpm starts last night in the rain, I think the clutch hasn’t bedded in fully yet or it’s not upto the abuse I can give it. I couldn’t wheelspin it! The clutch did slip! I was amazed how much grip the pilot sport 4s gave in the rain on 2 different roads. Maybe more revs would have shocked them loose! I was just trying to assess how the esp was behaving with ATB centre diff of the RS4 box,

Cool

I assume that by having 6 gears, the ratios are such that changes are shorter and more frequent than the auto. What kind of speeds are you reaching in 1st and 2nd before changing up?

Amazing.
Would be great to look at pictures how you managed to fit clutch in that tight footwell.
Hope to see the car in flesh in one owner meets.

Hi Goran the gear chart indicates at 7000rpm
1st 36.9
2nd 61.1
3rd 88.9
4th 119.3
5th 147.1
6th 173.8
3000 is 74.5 on the motorway
so first 3 are lower
4th is now a usable gear with good acceleration
5th is almost the same as 4th in the auto
and 6 has a slightly lower top end
but the biggest jump is 30mph 3-4 in the auto its 50mph!
