Update: just found out that 1110 updates to U385 in Stage 1 and needs a second go to get to 1110. I'm surprised that no-one has ever mentioned this!
Hi Julian

Thank you so much. I only did a one stage. I would have never known that. I'll do that tomorrow morning and hopefully all will be well. Will report back tomorrow. Thanks again.

sorry didnt get back to you have been in thomasland with the kids and only my phone to work on.

glad you got it working, i had no idea about the running it twice, thats a good find from Julian.

As i said if your bluetooth is still working fine, update cd1 on 5570 and you shouldnt have a problem with CP

then you should be able to do the tweaks to get the AV1 and 2 in as well as the hidden menu.

No worries. I really appreciate all your help and advise. I notice now on source>AV I get Av1 and Av2 which is great!

Ill do 5570 next. So do you recommend I only do disc 1 or should I do all three CD's?

if you do disk 2 you are very likely to get CP kick in and you will notice that only one side of your amp is working until you get CP removed at an audi dealer.

try your blutooth now, if its still working fine then just do disk 1

My bluetooth module is on order at the moment. So I'll just do as you suggest and do disc 1.

Whats CP?

If I skip disc 2 is it worth doing disc 3? What does 3 give me?

Component Protection is where MMI thinks the media device/ECU has come from another car; the ECU goes into 'limited mode' which prevents some aspects working. The Bose amp plays only left side when it's in CP so you get to fix it quickly to stop you pulling your hair out. But only Audi dealers can undo this as it needs a link to Audi HQ [although some legitimate authorised non-Audi delaers are starting to be able to do this too] ...

You shouldn't get CP on a valid 'been in the car since new' ECU but a bug in the firmware for the Bose amp puts CP on when it shouldn't.

===============================================

limoncello; sorry, but you've got your CD numbers mixed up.

I have the 'proper' CDs from the 3CD set in front of me and I've looked at them in my CD drive.

CD1 is the MMI update to go to 5150 - no BT updates on this.
CD3 is the MMI update to go to 5570 - no BT updates on this.
CD2 is the BT update disk to go to 1130 on the BT phone - no MMI updates other than that on this.

If you want to leave BT 'untouched', run CD1 until you get no updates then run CD3 until you get no updates. You'll then be at 5570.

HOWEVER, both CD1 and CD3 contain the updated Bose firmware level 460 which may put the amp into CP

Julian

Many thanks
I forgot this post was about being unable to use VCDS to fix the 'green screen' menu issue.

I would suggest you try that again first with the MMI level at 1110 to see if that's fixed it - as was hoped. Then I'd go on to update the MMI to 5510/5570.

Julian

PS I see you have said you have a BT module on order. Until you install that, CD2 [BT updates] won't do anything as it won't find any matching ECUs. I would install the BT module and check its level before trying CD2.

Thanks again

I installed CD1 and gone to 5150.

I noticed that the battery level function from car>systems has gone which is a shame as I liked that.

When I mentioned Bluetooth I wasnt referring to an OEM audi unit. Im going to feed BT through Aux inputs using Av1..
