Vagcom register
Hi Guys and Girls,
Being fairly new to the forum, could someone explain how this register works. My recently purchased A8 is in need of some diagnostic treatment. Went to a local Audi Specalist in Guildford, who wants to chage me £58 + VAT per hour for this service. As I am based in Guildford, Surrey the closest guys to me are Notorious in Reading, Architex_mA8tey in Swindon and mkoneman in Oxford. Do you contact these members direct and make an appointment. If so what would the charge be, if any (hopeful) Also I would not know how to operate this equipment or read the codes it threw up, so would need someone to help and show/explain. I am happy to pay for this resource/service, but would like to think I could get it cheaper through the forum. Finally, does anyone know of a good Audi Specalist in the Guildford Area.

Depends how quick you need it I guess, most of us will happily run a scan for you and try to help. I can let you know if im passing on the M25 on my travels soon and I will leave the others to answer themselves. I currently spend quite a bit of time out of the UK so unfortunately will not be able to make any of the meets listed. Thanks for the FB link to MkOneMan at obdworks in Oxford. I will be back in the UK for two weeks from the 23rd Aug. Would be happy to come to you at your convienience, either during an evening or at a weekend, whatever suits. Happy to make a contibution to leads and or beer tokens. Thanks Barzy

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course.
