Default Dpf?

Hi all.

Just recently bought oil to change it myself. Went for the 507 for lower ash etc etc, because the 3.0 TDi 2008 may have a DPF. 2008 Listings for the car seem to have DPF and non DPF versions, the online ones.

I could not find a definitive yes or no, as to whether the car has a DPF or not. I haven't seen a DPF warning light ever light up, at start up or otherwise.

So, can anyone tell me either way, and satisfy my curiosity?

All the best

John.

Looks like the only way is to check the PR codes for your car.

My 2004 [MY 2005] A8 has "PR-7GN", which is "Emissions concept. EU4, DPF preparation" which I take to mean "we've put some stuff in the car ready but haven't put the DPF in"!!

I believe VAG group cars all use the 7Xy code [where X is a letter] to indicate which prep is installed.

Regards - Julian

Cheers Julian. I'll have a look at the sticker near the spare wheel.

Check the exhaust tips. Normally non-dpf cars have downward pointing exhaust tips that will be black and sooty and dpf equipped cars will have normal horizontal exiting exhaust tips that are so clean you could eat your dinner off them. As a general rule anyway....

Cheers. I concluded as much. Essentially I just wanted to know which oil to buy, whether I needed the 507 lower ash oils.

Thanks chaps

There should also be an EU Emissions Regime sticker under the bonnet which will say EU4+DPF and that's why I'll be voting out on June 23rd.
