Default Strainer intake tube shorten?

Hi all
My car is booked in for an extended gearbox service at Mackie's next week. By extended I mean I am also having the front lower valve body and F215 switch replaced at the same time.

I can't remember exactly what thread I was reading a while ago but is it recommended to shorten the intake tube on the new strainer 5mm or so?

The RS6 filter has a 5mm deeper sump and therefore 5mm longer pickup pipe. It has been known for these to get mixed up and so people have had to shorten the RS6 filter to fit the D2. I've not heard of shortening the stock (correct) filter though.

Thanks once again for the reply

The part I have, supplied by the main dealer is 01L 325 429B. Does that sound right and so no need to worry about shortening it?

Car is being dropped off next Monday 16th afternoon and will be left with them until Friday. I guess they'll fit it in at some point during that week. I couldn't pin them down to an exact time as they are very busy.
