Default Car service

Hi guys been absent for a while, just busy with life etc. Bought ollie's d3 s8 from him that was advertised on this forum, sent the car for a full service end of last week as even though I know the oil has been changed I wasn't sure about fuel filters etc.
My mechanic was astonished to find that the fuel filter was the original one from 2007, meaning the car has done 147000 miles on 1 fuel filter! And the air filters also look like they havnt been changed in a while either. Still loving the car and hoping when she comes back she will feel a bit perkier, she's also having new discs and pads all round too as they weren't looking their best, mechanic thinks the discs were original too and the car has only had pad changes so they've done their job!!
Still a few jobs to sort, the alloys paint have started peeling so I want them refurbed or might change to some other ones if I find any I like. And I still need to sort the slight lacquer peel on the front bumper, will have them sorted in the next few months hopefully.

Wow and an S8 too! I would suggest after service give it a full tank of super unleaded and a blast. Fuel is the cheapest at present.

I only ever put super unleaded in, but yeah an s8, couldn't beleive its the original filter, it had full audi service history until ollie bought it, so they must have charged for it but didn't do it I imagine.

Fuel filter is not the service item according to Audi service schedule on petrol cars so no surprise there that it had not been changed.

Audi service is to change the plugs on a petrol or the fuel filter on a diesel as part of a "big" service.....

My last 2 cars were audi diesels before the s8, maybe that's why i thought they should be changed, still surprising its done 147k miles without needing to be done

My view is that what is needed is not really what Audi do, they just look to offer "something" extra on every second service to justify the price being double

Common sense does not apply!
