Default 2018/19 Maps

I called into Audi today and as I usually do I asked if the latest 2018/19 Maps were available and was surprised to find out they had allocated the part number & pricing so can only assume the new maps on SD Card were not too far away.

I *think* the maps on SD Card were £190 with a further £26 for activation although I wouldn't swear to it under oath...

I've been hassling my Audi Master Tech for more details regarding the map updates as ISTR the ones for the coming year are usually released around the end of the first quarter - i.e. around now!

They have listed 8R0 060 884 FC as the latest 2018 ones on their system but no-one knows whether these are the last of the 2017/2018 mapping year or the first of the 2018/2019 year? They were unable to advise on the software versions and I considered myself lucky to get the part number off them!

The current maps in the 2014 car I believe are the ones that were factory installed;
HN+R_EU_AU_P0770
8R0 060 884 BK
ECE 6.17.3

The ones in my 2011 D4 were as far as I know current as @September last year;
HN+R_EU_AU_K0942_4
8R0 060 884 ED
ECE 6.24.2

Does anyone know anything more on the latest mapping as I wouldn't want to pay top dollar now only to find the maps are to be updated shortly...

I believe software 0770 was the one that allowed you to choose either the car SIM or your own mobile to make outgoing calls which I do have but wondered what the other differences might be between 0770 and 0942_4 as I am getting MMI lockups midway through transferring my phonebook and Google earth loading much more than I did on the last car - around twice per week on the 2014 instead of once a month on the 2011.

I was also wondering whether 0942_4 might have been superseded with a newer version yet?

Thanks & kind regards,

I also found out that I must have misunderstood the pricing when I was at the dealership last time because now they won't sell me the SD Card but I have to book the car in for a day, pay £60 and then have their own workshop maps copied on to the HDD and then pay £196 for the license!

The download and do it yourself option looks quite scary if you don't know what you're doing.
Lots of Genuine OEM 2017 SD card maps on eBay for less than £100.

The 2017 SD cards would still need to be activated - so probably not much use. But yes, I agree..... you want to follow the instructions to the letter for sure

In short, maybe..... have a read of the instructions I linked to before, seems that there are auto executing scripts that run off an SD card.... but I’ve not looked into it in detail as I have VCDS!

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys but in this instance I would much prefer to let Audi do the update and damn the cost!

A friend of mine bricked his MMI updating his D4 and on my last car the maps were downloaded and VCDS always gave an error...I hate errors!

Also looking for the latest 2018/2019 maps and not 2016/2017 ones from a 2-year old thread on many different models with 2188 posts and many issues thanks!

Although I have VCDS I am also on Mac here and reading the link states explicitly not to use a Mac to unpack & copy to SD Card.

I figured if there was anything else to update then the dealer could do it at the same time as they mentioned they would be other updates to carry out on a 2014 car before updating the maps and also gives me a failsafe in case anything goes wrong as I have heard some updates may upset the Bose amongst other things...

Car booked in on 9th so I can report back next week if anyone is interested?

Thanks & kind regards,
