The guy who bought it is fairly new to crypto and mining. He has a couple of S9s running at work lockup where he does not have to pay for electricity and now adding S17 to his fleet. He was also interested in making some GPU rigs and mining Eth.

So there is definitely some new interest coming in to the industry.

I'm wondering if I should sell my spare S9 while there's renewed interest. Probably only worth a few hundred quid but it's sat here doing nothing now that we're in the summer months. And with all the new S17s coming online, by the time winter comes it'll probably be even less profitable than it is now.

Yeah....I've a couple of S7's and an S9. So wished i'd sold them on early last year!!! The 4x GTX rig actually became the more interesting in coin grabbing and got me back playing with linux and was fun, so whilst not particularly profitable in the mid short term it was a good experiment to do and I never put more than I could afford to loose on speculation and it STILL has potential.

Still on the upside all the crypto I held is slowly coming back into the picture which may make things more interesting again!

Keep missing out on new batches on S17, August and September batch missed. Coinminingcentral does not actually have any in stock, only pre-order for August batch. Antminer Distribution Europe have some on pre-order for Jun batch but too expensive. Looks like I sold mine too soon and too cheap.

Will just concentrate in putting more money in electricity and run L3+s 24/7 instead of just nights and build up a bit more LTC before upcoming halving.

I have been meaning to try out Braiins OS for S9 for some time but did not really have the time or commitment but after the latest release that allows easier upgrade from SD card without messing around withh SSH and CMD I finally tried it.

Only tried it on 1 S9 so far, S9i 14TH/s model stock was around 14Th/s @ 1450W, Bitmains updated ASICBoost firmware was 14TH/s @ 1250W.

After playing around with Braiins firmware my target was to get as much TH/s as I can around the original 1450W. I am pleased to report that I am now getting almost 16TH/s @1460W

Looks like Bitmain also realised that with the drop of power consumption with the ASICboost they can crank up clock speed to reach original power/TDP and decided to sell S9 with different firmware with 16TH/s it looks sightly different and sold out in first day.

haha. No wonder it sold out if that was the selling price! ($351.00) ... especially considering mining is fairly profitable again now.

Looks like they've used the taller L3+ enclosure (minus the top ventilation holes). And the control board appears to have a full-length lid on it. I wonder where the power cables go ...

Incidently, I'm driving up to Edinburgh tomorrow to meet Andreas and listen to his talk

Still room for a few more people, I believe, if you (or anyone else) wants to go
(It's free to attend by the way).

I'm booked on the East Lancs Railway tomorrow for a midweek lunch, 13:00 of Bury. Going to have a wander around the market first.
