Default Acrylic (?) drive finishes

Hi Folks,

Seems from the posts I've read there may be someone out there who might know about a couple of home projects I'm researching.

Here goes;

Has anyone had their drive / yard improved with one of the finishes that I think are acrylic? I don't mean the printed concrete.

I have a long-ish, steep drive made of concrete. I like well laid block-paving (NO deflections!) but fear it won't be possible due to steep drive. Not sure about printed concrete, heavy use of clutch to get up drive and potential slips in winter??

There are firms doing the stuff I THINK is acrylic and I've seen it applied to steep drives.

Any thoughts?

Robert

Do you mean a resin bonded driveway? If the concrete is sound then I think it is a really good option

My grandmother has a resin bonded driveway, she had it done a number of years back now when they first started to hit the market. I can't remember when she had it done but was whilst my grandfather was still around so wouldn't surprise me if it's nearing 10 years old.

It does require regular maintenance, just like any surface, to keep the green and muck off it but it still looks good and seems to have lasted pretty well over the years. It hasn't come up with any bald patches or anything like that as yet but if you get aggressive with the pressure washer you can tell it does knock some of the material out.

It does still look 100x better than the old concrete she had underneath it though!

My son has a resin-bonded "driveway" put in a year or so ago. It looks like pale gravel at a glance.
Just needs cleaning occasionally.

(It's a 3-storey town house in Shoreditch with a front space just big enough to park his S4 and walk by it to the front door, so not in the same category as The Laird )

e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
