Link should be fixed now. Sorry you feel that what I've reccy-ed and suggested doesn't work for you Jim - feel free to suggest alternatives ?
No one seemed to be coming up with any agenda or firm plans and as I had made the journey from Swindon and booked to stay up here for 2 nights I just wanted to make sure that something happened or it would all have been non-cancellable at short notice for me!
Could you not have a snack when you arrive at the carding shed (cafe will be less busy at 11am) and that could tide you over until we head to the pub? It's only a very short drive through HOLMFIRTH to get there anyway but let me know if you're not coming as I will need to correct numbers on our table reservation.
I would have thought you could head home from the BAKEWELL end of our planned route or are you way further north?

So you've been given the OK to drive, Jim?

No criticism intended!

I'll join you at the pub and check my route from there. I was at the hospital almost all day yesterday, so I've not had chance to check this out yet.

And, yes, I'm clear to drive again but still have a few more hospital visits to do and a boot full of pills!

See you all soon

Thanks for doing the reccy beforehand Neil!

I only took a couple of photos. I'll post Lyn's photos a little later when she's had time to transfer them from the camera ...

It was indeed a very good day!

And, surprisingly, the roads were not that busy and Neil's 'wee drive' across some spectacular parts of The Peak District was a delight.

Brilliant day to celebrate my (relatively) clean bill of health - thanks for a great day to Neil, Steve, Mark and Lyn (brill photos BTW Lyn!).

Thanks for sharing the photos.
More news on Gwen, it will be a few more days before she will be home, but will be very weak for a few weeks. They are still draining her chest cavity before reinflating the collapsed lung.
The drive through the lakes was quite eventful, especially the Newby Bridge to Ambleside via Hawkshead, good for a meet.
