Default D2 S8 engine oil - which one?

Sorry, I'm being a wee bit forgetful/lazy - car due for a service in a couple of thousand miles, and could do with a bit of a top up before the long trip to Mackies tomorrow morning for its gearbox service.

Could some kind soul please remind which engine (NOT gearbox) oil I should be putting in it - I've got loads on choice in my garage (for various cars...), but can't recall which one is for the S8 .

Usually 5w30 fully synthetic but needs to meet the relevant VAG specification.

As I think was discussed recently in another thread the spec in your drivers manual will probably be lower/older than almost any modern high-quality oil so won't actually appear on the label.

IIRC 502.00 is "standard" and 503.00 "long life" specification for a late D2.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Well, anything which meets VAG spec 502/505 - or 504/507 for long life. So you might have some Quantum Platinum 5W 40W (502/505) or Quantum Longlife III 5W 30W(504/507) lying about. All fully synthetic.
And, by the way, petrol (98 RON) goes in the round hole underneath the flap on the offside rear.
