There's a company in Swindon called PIRTEK who it would seem can make up almost any type of hose or pipe that you need along with any type of connector - might be worth looking them up and phoning them for a chat?

Is the line your having problems with a high pressure line or just a feed line from a reservoir?

Depending on the end fitting and rating you could have pipe bent to replace the long hose section and have short sections of hose either end, which is the normal way to design systems.

I used to work for Pirtek and they can indeed do quite a lot but most of there stuff is related to industrial hydraulics but some depots have things like tubing, good ridge style hose and fittings etc so could well be a good place to start.

They are all over the UK too.

Don't know where in Devon you are but Swift Hydraulics in Launceston is the man.

Thanks guys - we have a Pirtek branch in Exeter. They don't carry EPDM.

Its a non-pressurised hose which feeds fluid to the ESP pump. The problem with this hose is the extremely tight 135 degree bend (about 2cm radius) on the passenger side where it comes through the bulkhead to join the metal pipe going down to the pump. There is no off-the-shelf hose which will bend tight enough to do this without collapsing, and because of the strut brace there is no space to take a wider route either.

I tried making a mandrel in the lathe to bend a metal pipe that tight but it just cracked.

I did think about cutting the bent ends off and joining them with a long run of metal pipe, but I didn't have anything long enough and just got fed up with it so covered it in heatshrink. Its back on the car now, and the reservoir will be back on today.

I'll just have to see what happens when it gets fluid again...

What about nylon tubing heated to get your bend radius or soft copper tube

Hmm nylon might work if I could stop it crushing. I was going to have a go with copper but didn't have any to hand. They're both worth investigating if the heatshrink doesn't work though thanks

If you use nylon or metal tube the trick to stop it collapsing is to tightly fill it with something like sand and seal the ends. Then heat it to stop from cracking
