I don't think there is any valve in the strut, i believe if you cut or remove the tubing the strut will vent

I thought this too but when I removed the lines on mine it kept pressure. It only released the pressure between the strut and the valve manifold.

Remember seeing somewhere too that when you buy a new replacement strut that it needs to be charged with gas before its fitted.
