Just curious, what's the method for numbering the items on the to-do list?

Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one, will have to get mine looked at properly one day when time and funds allow.

Brilliant!

And the bills should be quite reasonable if you can work that fast!

A lot of the jobs on that list are standard D2 things that almost all of them need - arch liners for example hardly ever get put back properly because non-specialist garages don't understand how the fasteners work. Botang's hole, the ecu box, the starter junction box, gearbox output seals are similar D2 peculiarities so they're always on the list the first time I meet a new one. I keep all the parts on the shelf for that reason.

There are a bunch of service items which are 'while we're in there' jobs. They are functioning adequately but more than 75% through their service lives so its economically prudent to change them now rather than wait 6 months and have to take it all apart again.

What I find with D2s is that before we enthusiasts get hold of them they've mostly been maintained to 'make it pass an MoT' standard by ordinary garages and anything non-essential has been overlooked. Then, when the essential stuff gets too expensive, they get sold. When we get hold of them the maintenance standard goes up to 'I adore this car and want it to be as good as it can be' and so there are quite a few jobs to get to that level. The reason I work exclusively on D2s is because the owners' love for the car fits well with my 'as the factory made it or better' work ethic

Purely arbitrary - those items are what Dean's local garage identified, numbered in the order we discussed them by email prior to me picking up the car. The items in green are things I've spotted once I got it on the lift.

The only possible explanation is that it's been topped up with water There's no way water can get in to that system other than being added via the reservoir, and it was filled right to the top so I surmise someone has mistaken it for the screen wash bottle.

Interestingly, the steering is exceptionally light on this one. I wondered if it had servotronic before I got it on the lift, but now I'm thinking it may be something to do with it running on mayonnaise We'll see once it's fixed. I'm planning to flush it with ATF since that has very powerful detergents in it and should pick up all the gunge (plus its cheap), then flush again with the proper CHF11.

So if you want lighter steering then mayonaisse is the answer! Helmans Lite, Original or supermarket own?

Alarm bells must have been ringing when they only managed to get 100ml of screen wash in there, that and the USE ONLY MINERAL HYDRAULIC FLIUD"
Must have been thinking thats going to make a mess of the screen.

I thought the steering was super light too but I put it down to low profile tyres on 20" FE alloys with spacers compared to my standard 18" Avus on the blue car.
It was so light that at times it felt as though the wheels were off the ground with no tarmac resistance.
