Audi did it in an attempt to resolve a bluetooth issue. In the end they installed a brand new 5F unit, latest hardware revision that fixed the problem.

Having searched a little i think one of the downsides of 0900 is that they have "closed" a function that was used for "non-dealer" map updates

can you see the version of the mmi in a vcds scan, on the d3 it was in 07 Control head, but this isnt the case on the D4

explain more - i thought map updates were done by downloading from the audi connect thingy and loading via sd card.

ok thanks for that, been quite a few updates already, trying to work out what mine is on without having to access the car, have a vcds scan but its not obvious which is the mmi fware version if its on here at all
