Default WANTED D3 MMI Module

Hi All

I am having a nightmare with my A8 at the moment. I have a flat tyre and went to get it replaced only to be told I need to put the car into 'Jacking Mode.' protects the air suspension

Well my 'Car' button isn't working and never has (since I've had it) so I cant get into jacking mode which means I cant change my tyre -

I have removed the MMI module with help off here - very simple and took 15 mins to have the unit indoors. I cleaned it all including connections, put it back together and its exactly the same - except the 'Setup' button is no longer sticky. I am guessing I need a new one??

The part number is 4E2 919 610 - I'll attach some pics too...

If anyone has one or knows of someone that has one (at a sensible price!) I'll take it!

Thanks in advance

BTW still need to get my handbrake fixed but not sure which bit I need

Nigel

I've forgotten to put it in jacking mode a few times, and suffered no long lasting effects.

The biggest problem of not doing it is that you jack one side and car tries to level itself. It could be dangerous if you're under it.

If you're on a proper 2/4 post lift, worst case it should have a hissy fit (literally) trying to level itself, but cant see how it can cause any permanent damage.

However, it if it does, dont come to me....

Can jacking mode be turned on with VCDS?

Thanks for the replies...

Really? - I'm scared now as the 'tyre man' said he has seen air suspensions burst when dropping the car back down. I believe they are quite expensive to replace! As well, it would be nice to have the Car menu working anyway!

I have an old OBDII connector which fits the car fine and I get a power light on the device however when I run the VCDS test I get Port OK, Interface not found so I am wondering if I need to get a specific Ross Tech cable!!

Any VCDS enthusiasts in Manchester?

I have linked a picture of my OBDII

As I found the other day, when trying to help Nollywood, some older cables aren't much use on a D3 and you can only see the engine.

It's not even VCDS cable, it's ELM327 so it will not work with VCDS at all. It will work with some other softwares but only for basic functions on engine ECU.

I used to use it with my S-Type Jag to clear faults and the like - which worked fine with some very basic software...

I am looking all the time for a Ross-Tech VCDS cable compatible with the 8 - at a good price!
