I wasn't going to say what my first car was, it was so embarrassingly bad, but that's even worse! That's the later model with the rectangular headlights, right?

Mine was the predecessor to that, the Lada that was based on the FIAT 124, also known as a VAZ-2101.

A 1976 model in white that looked just like this ... that is, until I wrapped it around a traffic light at the age of 18.

you think that's bad, my first 'proper' job was SELLING Ladas and had several of the Fiat 126 based saloons and the later Riva model as company cars, complete with advertising graphics down the sides

Bet it didn't take long to list all the luxurious selling points.

4 seats, a steering wheel, headlights ....

We're beginning to sound like The Four Yorkshiremen ...

don't forget the snazzy plastic wheel trims and go-faster stripes, or the vinyl roof with the special 'Rally' edition that came with £1500 minimum part ex

I very nearly bought a CX, a few years before I bought my first BX. I always loved the look of the CX, and I found one at the right price too, but on closer inspection it appeared to be fabricated entirely out of painted rust!

I've always been a fan of big old Citroens, especially the DS. The SM has got to be the ultimate big old Citroen to own though; Citroen's suspension coupled with a Maserati engine -- superb!
Yes, although the big problem with the SM was that the caravan full of mechanics and spare parts that you needed to tow in order to travel more than three miles tended to reduce performance somewhat!

I was making it sound better than it was...................
I think my was P reg too so not really a Riva
Bought it cheap off my sister just before I passed my test then once passed the test I then got rid of it quickly.
To be honest, it was good car in that it seated 5 very easily and got us from A to B - honest

In my early driving career I was changing cars every 18 months or so, but far less recently.

Going backwards, year is age of car and not purchase date.

2004 A8 D3 3.7, owned for 1 year and still with me
2001 A8 D2 3.7, owned for 2 years
2008 Skoda Superb 2.0PD Elegance DSG, owned for 3 years
2005 Skoda Octavia 2.0PD Elegance, Owned 4 years
2000 Porsche Boxster S, Owned 2 years
2001 Skoda Octavia vRS, Owned 4 years (bought new)

And a lot more going back to 1984.

I still have my first car, a ford Capri, it's been sat in the garage for a the last seven years. One day I'll get round to putting the old girl back on the road, it was put away when I got something newer to cover a commute. Shouldn't need too much to return it to service, it was all ok when I put it to bed! The 8 is currently car number 4 with an average of 6 to 8 years on my daily drivers before I sell them on. I generally get a good un, keep it regularly maintained (with at least 6 monthly oil swaps) and I seem to make them last. Eco friendly motoring at its best!

Fiat Tipo diseasel econobox with all the buttons and none of the soul that now does all the heavy lifting.

Ford Capri Laser: noisy, slow, thirsty, bouncy, no buttons but it always sounds like it’s REALLY trying and I can’t help but chuckle when it parps and boings along. And people of a certain age stare at it with a wistful look in their eyes that clearly says…I had one of them. And I sold it because of the kids
