Default Parking Brake Warning Light

I have a 2004 4.0ltr Diesel A8.

A working light for the Parking light has come on in the center dash display.

Im not familiar with he parking brake system. Any tips for establishing the cause of the dash light. Is this new rear calipers or parking brake switch?

Many thanks in advance

I have connected the VCDS and retrieved the error codes from the EPB module 053. It shows the control module as a fault but also bot motors and worn brake pads.
All brake pads were recently replaced and coded correctly
The left hand caliper and motor was also replaced recently.

If you all agree that the control module is the culprit does anyone have a link to the instructions for replacement and coding.

I understand that the module is beneath the battery. Is that correct.

Thats a great reference repository. Unfortunately there;s nothing I could find on the EPB module replacement and coding.

Does anyone know where I get see a 'how to' guide for replacing the EPB module and coding it in?

I can only speak for myself but I put all of my EPB issues down to nil use.

I just never use it. It auto-cycles about every 1000 miles but other than that, despite my friendly mech reminding me to use it, I just don’t. I put the auto in park and that is it.

I have had both sides lubed and freed off at least 3 times each in the 70k miles I have had the car and now the N/S has truly failed. It is beyond fixing so I am looking for replacement parts now. Euro parts out of stock.

So all my own fault really!
