Removing chrome tips - petrol

Hi folks,

I'm trying to clean my chrome tips as pretty black but hard to do with them on. Does anyone know is it possible to remove them temporarily? Perhaps with some WD40 and try to slide them off? I can't see if they're actually a removeable part..
