Default Gaping glove box

My name is Bill and I have a half inch gap and even if it does shut properly it pops open unexpectedly again by the aforementioned half an inch. My wife finds this very amusing and I feel less of a man. Can you help? Is this even the right forum to be discussing my gaping hole?

you need to comb over the gap with velour or alcantara!!

Gaping holes around the glove box area do suggest that something hasn't been screwed quite right.

If the glovebox is allowed to be only partly screwed, then it can result in a slight slit between the dashboard and the box itself.

Worst still, the box won't quite clutch the rod as required to keep it firmly shut during a hard ride.

I can only suggest that the gaping hole is thus caused by a faulty previous erection, and I think dismount and remount might help things along.

Worse case, it will need disposing of completely in favour a new mate that can be mounted more ridgedly.

Not only have I not been admonished for my immaturity but I seem to have encouraged superior efforts. Excellent.

Still can't get the bloody thing to stay shut though and it can be a pain to open. Seriously, any ideas? Otherwise when some poor soul who comes to search on this very topic will think we're all a bunch of bum obsessives.

I sometimes go to open mine and .. nothing. Have to give it a harder closing shove before the button operates, but don't have a gaping casm of a hole when I do manage to wedge it back in between the flaps.
Suggest remove, check over, reseat and refit as per Ian

Turns out that if you put your head in the footwell you could see the rear of the tray, which revealed itself to have a large crack.

Solved by writing the car off in a renault Clio and getting a replacement with a tighter box.
