That's funny,
Swapping old school 350 Chevs into series 1 and series 2 XJ6s used to be pretty common back in the day - cheap horsepower and better reliability than the old 4.2 XK block.

I've driven a few LS1 powered Commodores and Statesmans. Low down torque isn't that strong - about on par with the S8. Modded they're much better, my mates Monaro with headers, exhaust, throttle body and tune was very torquey. T56 was still slow though...
I think LS3's are much better - need to borrow my mate Luke's SS!

Having a complete 4.0tfsi with short block damage sitting for a while and now found a engine and gearbox from a burned 2015 RS6. This shortblock looks to be in good working order just dirty so I will have to fully pull it apart and build one good 4.0. Also have the RS6 8hp90 gearbox.

So ofcourse my 1999 D2 I have been using as a daily for the last 10 years seems like the perfect candidate for this engine and gearbox.

Problem is I don’t want it manual gearbox so that will add all kinds of complications. First I will focus on getting the engine and gearbox ready then I will probably buy a old D2 to see what’s needed to get it to fit.

At least it all first between the suspension towers and inside the trans tunnel. Subframe will need lots of modifications to make it fit and some suspension stuff probably also to make enough clearance for the driveshafts. Stock turbos probably aren’t gonna fit because they’re placed really far backwards and they almost hit the firewall even without the downpipes. So big single seems like the way to go now.

This is exactly what I want to see.

In guessing you'll have to install it just were it physically fits rather than being able to give any consideration to the weight distribution,
will the rs6 set up be pushing 500 + bhp ,(i really like what your doing )

The weight distribution will be better then original, the engine will be like 20cm more backwards.

Doesn’t look like I made much progress but after lots of measuring and thinking I choose to use D4 4.2tdi engine mounds because they’re not as weird as the C7 ones and started to make the subframe. Made the front mounting points and started to see how the subframe will be with some plastic tubing. Now I’ll order the tubing and stuff to make the rear subframe mounts.

I choose not to use subframe rubbers because it will make the car a lot stiffer and the D4 also doesn’t have subframe rubbers so with using the d4 engine mounts I don’t expect much vibrations.

For power I’m looking for 800-1000hp. Stock this c7 rs6 engine has 605hp
