Edinburgh next week - what's happenning?
It looks like we (wife & I) will be in Edinburgh for a few days mid-week next week. As tourists.
Not sure if we'll drive there in the S8 or go by train/plane...... Anyone local know of any good events midweek, or places to visit that are open this time of year? No idea where we'll stay but probably as near to the centre as we can. Last time we were there it was at SMWS in Leith but I'm no longer a member. Cheers.

Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |

There's the Britannia, the castle, the shops, the endless tram works.
Most of the tourist stuff is on all year round, may even be a decent show on. And you're an hour from Glasgow by car or train too.

Living near the HS2 route you really ought to get a flavour of the issues by visiting the tram works - send your wife up by train, drive yourself and try and finding your way to Haymarket station.
That said Princess Street is really nice and quiet with most of the buses off it! http://www.list.co.uk/events/ is good for whats on. Have a good visit.

Well we're booked, staying on Princes Street right near the station.
First class on the train so 4 hours each way of reasonable comfort with a meal included. Might try and "reactivate" my SMWS membership on a temporary basis....
