Weight obsession
I got a new toy, a digital scale with accuracy of 100g. So naturally I put it to good use. Here is a start.
Avus 18" wheel + Dunlop SP9000 245/45 = 24.2kg A6 dynamic 18" wheel + Pilot Super Sport = 22.3kg S8 Recaro seat = 34.4kg Audi TT Recaro seat = 22.4kg If anyone wants anything else weighed (that doesnt require dismantling the car ) let me know. |

Hi Goran I've found a website that may interest you! there are more far more complicated program's about, but this one seems spot on and is a useful for seeing the difference of more power or less weight.

Thanks
Mine was 1865kg according to service booklet, and local weight bridge. I think its about 1843kg now. Mine has a tow bar that probably weighs a lot. I did a 6.27s to 60mph with the 1810kg curb weight (-33kg because 1/2 tank). The little program is a little optimistic at 5.5s. Probably because auto boxes transfer less power to the wheels. A S4, with manual gearbox will do 5.0s to 60 with the best professional driver, and about 5.2s with a good 'normal' driver. Curb weight 1660kg. So the program seems to be set up for manual boxes. |

Optermistic maybe maybe not those time should be achievable with a car of that power to weight. With the car optermised for drag racing eg a high stall torque converter and optermised gearing 1234 all closer so the car launches harder.
You know the weight of your car do you know it's still got all its power? I once did 3 runs at York drag strip in my friends lotus and beat him by 1/2 a second and I wasn't happy with any of the runs! They all had faults. Here is a link to some more professional program's with every detail about the car http://performancetrends.com/Drag_Racing.htm
