Default which hub bearing?

Anyone know what kind of front hub bearing would be in a 97 D2 FWD 2.8? It lists either push fit or bolt on for mine which isn't much help! It does offer a chassis break number of >4dx005500 but mine seems to be 4dz..... If i have to crawl under it i will, but frankly i'm just after the easy option

It is almost certainly a press-fit one mate. Only much later ones and Alloy housing ones had the bolt in type. Sorry! Hope I'm wrong as bolt in MUCH easier to fit!!

Are the bolt in housings a direct replacement Ben. Would getting the aluminium bolt in housing reduce the unsprung weight much?

It would have been so good if they were.

You can't mix and match steel and ally hubs, which I found out to my cost trying to fit the feckin' RS4 rear calipers.

The ally hubs are bolt in bearings (as I've just had new ones fitted today).

Oh, and I'm not Ben

fitting isn't a problem, i've got a big old press for just such occasions, just needed to be sure when ordering.......It's not got any movement in it yet anyway, but there is a faint noise from the osf....i'm hoping its the cheapo radial ditch finder the garage fitted when selling the car! I guess it needed tyres for selling because the fronts are both new (well were when i got it) but the backs are goodyear and a bit older....weirdly the fronts are 2 different brands of hedge missiles! Will recheck for movement at the weekend but yesterday there was nothing at all. Fingers crossed!
