It doesn't have to be the same brand, just enter the VW part number for the same capacity of the battery of the one you have. The car won't know the different, it only needs to know it's characteristics. If the new battery is the same size as your old one, just change the serial number by one digit (+1) and it will just reset all counters and know it's a new battery.

The main wiring loom has a big short on it. Duncan got his thermometer out and measured one side 15 degrees and the other 60 degrees where the short is!
After that we have 13.7V arriving at the battery. So still a little shy. Loom ordered will be fitted tomorrow and we’ll take it from there… |

Fixed. Back in the game! The surround on the top part of the loom had completely melted in half. Starts like a dream now.
