upgrade back seats
AUDI A8 SPORT 3.7 FACELIFT
Heated Rear seats Electric rear seats with electric lumbar and headrest adjustment Has anyone upgraded the back seats to the top spec?? and if so 1 is it lots of work? 2 do the wiring looms of cars that dont have upgrade have the connections there in loom or is it DIY. 3 whats needed from the donar car other than the seats. 4 whats a rough total of damage in £££££ Heated Rear seats Electric rear seats with electric lumbar and headrest adjustment ATT FOR A8 PARTS If reply for question 1 is a fair bit and reply to question 2 is DIY, question 3 is u got a car in with this spec. theres only 1 reply back from me when can u do it LOL

Its not quite as difficult as you might think. If you have a donor set of seats, its actually pretty easy. The electric adjustment for the rear seats is powered entirely off a single +12 feed that comes from the distribution panel in the boot above the battery, then you just need to run a single wire down the cabin to the dashboard for the all important 'drop the rear headrests' button on the dash. The heating side of things again isn't really that complex. There is a single +12 feed, again from the rear distribution panel that runs to the reat heated seat controls, and then into the rear seats. Pre facelift the +12 supply went under the back seats and across the transmission tunnel to the heated seat switches and back again. Facelift, it went all the way down the right hand side of the car, across the main looms at the front and all the back up the center console to the rear of the tranmission tunnel. Needless to say, taking the short route would be fine 2) Up until the end of 1996 (ish) all A8's had all the wiring for everything on board - Heated electric seats, heated seats, blinds, even the towbar wiring was in there. The only things that werent wired as standard were Bose and memory seats/steering column/seat belts as those items were an either/or - You couldnt have wiring for both present and not present. So the short answer is, you will have no wiring present. Sorry  3) Donor car will need to give up its seats, the rear heated seat switches and the piece of wood trim that surrounds the rear heated seat switches. The connectors from the wiring loom would be handy too. 4) The damage I suspect would be looking around the £500 mark all done. That would be circa £350 for the actual heated, electric seats in good condition and other parts, plus about 3 hours time to put it in. But. (theres always a but) Fully electric, heated, sports seats are actually very rare. To give some perspective, out of 40+ cars we've had through here, we have had 1 set of seats matching that description, and they were pre facelift. The full electric pack was more common on the non-sport cars, and it was standard on the Long Wheel base. It was also more common pre facelift as at one time if you wanted electric front seats, you had to order electric rears too as they came as a bundle. I wasn't personally present when your car came last - What colour is your interior as the first problem is getting the right colour leather out of the 10 or so possibilities
