Default No power

I wasn't sure where to put this so feel free to move it.

I parked up Monday morning and just been to the car now and i have no power, nothing not even for central locking and thats a problem as my key does not fit the boot lock, so can't get in to check battery.

On the underside (drivers front corner) the connector box that takes the main power cable and splits it to the alternator is hanging of the car but all cables / contacts look ok.

Is there anyway i can get into the boot or a power booster thingy, can i plug one into the cig lighter to get enough power to operate the central locking?

I'm currently 200 miles from home any help at all would be great.

Not in a position to help mate but if you say exactly where you are someone may be able to. Best of luck.

Cig lighter should be permanent live, so you should be able to run the central locking off it.

Alternitively, take the wooden plate off the passenger footwell. There is a +12 feed there thats runs direct the the battery. You can get a better connection there

I'll have a look at the 12+ feed in the footwell, thanks Ian

I just couldn't understand why it's so flat, not even enough juice to lght any dash lights. Turns out my passenger map light and main interior lights are on, or the switches at least

Hi David, good call i'm in Portsmouth at the moment and the car is in the Naval Base.

Now luckily electrics are my thing and looking at this photo i'm thinking that i need to be putting a live to the 10mm nut that has the big black cable going to it? But i'm sure it wasn't that obvious when i was looking in the car. Is it slightly different PF and FL? or an i even looking at the right bit?

Looking at that photo and counting from the left where would i put my jump leads?

Default Power

You seem to be working along the right lines there Dezzy. But rather than try to charge the battery....I would just connect an external battery to that power point.....Surely that would give you the power to operate the central locking?....And then investigate the battery from there

.

I did connect to the underside but couldn't get power so went into the relay board, second from the left on and earthed to the door hinge. Probably just a bad connetion under, it's a little tight under to see properly.

I'm in the boot now, hopefully the battery will take a charge.
