Default Holy Island revisited

Not really true, but yesterday morning on BBC One they were showing a programme about the workers on the A1.
One of the items was a nasty crash a matter of yards south of the hotel that we used for the Annual meet in 2017.
The A1 was closed for several hours and the police set up a diversion. They were sending artics down the road that we used on the Saturday morning.

That's correct Ray, that stretch is exactly where you were last year for the meet. There has been quite a lot of controversy over the major improvement plan proposed by Highways England, plus considerable opposition by local businesses and residents. They proposed closing large sections of the road in both directions and diverting all traffic via minor roads. Anyone who knows how busy that road is will appreciate how ridiculous that idea was. Local businesses such at The Lindisfarne Inn and Purdy Lodge appealed on the grounds that their businesses would collapse and the locals objected that the diverted traffic would cause chaos, which of course it would.

If my memory serves me correctly the Government stepped in after their appeal and recommended that Highways England revise their proposed plan, which I assume they did if they're now working in that area. Sorry to hear there's been a major accident, hoping there weren't casualties.

Northbound car driver had a medical problem.
Two lady passengers. One of them struggled to steer the car but being a non driver was a lost cause. She caught the left kerb then narrowly missed the front of a southbound artic (Iceland) and went into the field on theEast side. The car rolled a couple of times. One lady thrownout and found in the grass shouting I'm over here.
All three, though injured seriously survived.
