Dionysios,
Do you have ESP? If so, switch it off and try accelerating hard to see if you get the ABS light flashing again. A scan with VCDS would also help.

Not sure if the S8 is the same, but on a friend's S4, the MAF caused this fault

abs !!!
A failing maf caused this on my s6....
If you have vag com...test the maf.... the test is.....with engine idling....rev the engine up to about 5000 rpm....there should be a proportional increase in the values of the maf reading...if it falls aways then you know the maf is faulty.... |

My S8 also does this, usually passing through about 90mph. Accmpanied by a second or two of roughish running, like a minor misfire.
What's the MAF? |

It's the Mass Air Flow meter.. It's between the air filter and the engine.
90 mph? I assume that's on a track *ahem*

ermmm...........natch!
Tends to do it only once per outing, usually during the first transition from 'normal' to 'warp drive'. |

Fitted new MAF as car running like a coo after being serviced. Prolly fitting the new air filter disturbed a faulty MAF.
Purring like a kitten now. ABS and exclam mark no longer appear, so looks like MAF was the culprit all along. Cost was £65. Easy to fit. |
