Cleaning S8 exhaust tips
I asked this "elsewhere" and never got a good answer.
There is ingrained black soot on the tips on my car which I cannot shift. Metal polish on a dremel doesn't work. Tried wet'n'dry, but also struggling, and I didn't want to b****r the finish anyway. What are you doing with yours? Zip

Mine looks completely brand new right now, spray some Mr Muscle type stuff on them and leave it on for a while, after you have scrubbed it all off, use a polish such as Megs NXT or autosol to get a good shine and protect.

Just went out and took a pic, could do with another coat of polish. But you get the idea, they come up quite well

Just resurrecting this old thread as my S8 exhaust tips are horrible!
Searching around there seems to be a number of suggestions, including starting with oven cleaner! Not sure how that affects aluminium.  What are suggestions for a reasonable result within a shorter time frame; I'm not planning on spending several hours as some seem to have done.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation".  (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course.
