Default Open/close windows from remote

Hi folks

I probably use my remote control to open and close my windows more than anyone else, as it's the only way to get in and out of my car when it's in the garage (note I don't climb in through them - just take the key in and out of the ignition so I can pull the car out by hand!)

I've noticed it's taking a few goes before the windows are fully open/closed - they keep stopping part way for a think. Thought it might be the batteries in the remote, but changed them and it's exactly the same. What controls the functionality and is it possible something is packing up, or is it just down to our damp weather causing a glitch in the machine somewhere?!

Adrian

When I've noticed that I've always assumed it's one of the windows "sticking" somewhere which seems to halt the process. A bit like the "one-shot" up/down which seems to stop at the slightest bit of grit.

If I'm honest mine mostly happens when the keys are in my pocket with something else (loose change usually) and the button is held down accidentally - the car is parked right outside my home office window. Eventually the alarm goes off and I reset that and use the global close from inside the house.

Interesting, this hadn't happened to me recently, now I know why.
My "new" S8 doesn't do this! Global window open/close doesn't work.

Offhand does anyone know how you turn this on and off?

Yes it is, I found a code table on AudiPages but it doesn't actually say where you find this, though it says it is related to the Radio for no clear reason!
http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...lockcoding.pdf Something for another (warmer) day methinks.

I did an article about this on tyre smoke years ago. Can't find it now using my phone, do a search on tyre smoke for security codes.

Interesting. I plugged in VCDS and went to Central Locking (35) to find the codes are currently 15115.
This does NOT correlate to anything I've found online, though it's only 2 bits out.
Specifically all the online references have bits 0 and 1 off. Mine are clearly both on, adding 3 to the number. Anyone know what they represent?

Published 15112 is One-touch lock (which mine does), no horn honk, no auto-lock, no remote window. If I want the remote window then it's +64 = 15176 normally, 15179 for mine.

Well I've found some possible answers here: http://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-m...4-pump-187287/
But does anyone know what "Rear Lid Logic" is?

As that link concludes eventually:

+00001 - Rear Lid Opening via Rear Lid Lock
+00002 - Anti-Theft Confirmation via Blink
+00004 - Selective Locking
+00008 - Anti-Theft-System
+00016 - Reverse Lock And Unlock Functions On Remote
+00032 - Locking via Speed (15mph)
+00064 - Comfort Closing via Remote Control
+00128 - Turn Off Continuous Blinking Of Alarm LED When Anti-Theft Armed
+00256 - Rear Lid Logic
+00512 - Remote Control "Close" Confirmation (1x Blink)
+01024 - Confirmation Anti-Theft Warning System Horn Activation
+02048 - Door/Window Logic (USA)
+04096 - Remote Control "Open" Confirmation (2x Blink)
+08192 - Remote Control

This is not quite what other sources say, especially 4 and 8 which I've read are mutually exclusive with 4 = one-touch unlock (all doors) and 8 = 2-stage (drivers door unlocks on first click).

If the coding does not match to what is expected just add or subtract the number from your coding for the function you want to add/remove. It has almost never matched for the ones I have done but works every time.

Here is the list of codings for A/S8 and are the same for many other VAG's

Thanks Ainars. That document seems to suggest some subtle changes over time which may cause some confusion.

I'll try the ones I'm interested in and see what they do, if anything. Some of the wording is rather meaningless on some options, e.g. Window lifter logic USA (2048) and Tailgate/boot logic (256).

And exactly how 4 and 8 interact is also debatable.

I also note it says:
Quote:
as of CW 18/00 also contains modified door or winder lifter logic. As soon as the driver's door is opened when "terminal 15 off", no window lifters can be actuated.
I think Terminal 15 usually means ignition on, so I tested this and it's correct. My PF I'm sure had a delay of a few minutes on the windows and sunroof in this situation.
The question is, what is the purpose of this - some security logic that has escaped me?
