Default Mail order tyres and fitting

For those of you who have gone down the route of ordering tyres by mail order, how easily have you found someone who is prepared to fit tyres that they haven't supplied themselves, and at what cost?

No problems at all, there are several mobile fitters in my area.
I tend to use the same guy to swap my summer and winter wheels over as well (2 cars) including checking pressures and balance.

Typical price for fitting and balancing a replacement tyre is £10, though I don't think I've ever done just one. I normally try to have new tyres fitted when doing a seasonal swap.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I use a local tyre fitter, think it was £60 for my 20" and £50 for the 18", some mail order places have an agreement with fitters, post code usually finds one near you in that case

I got quoted £15-£20 per tyre couple of months back, wipes out most of the saving on the tyre as I found the same places could get close to the prices I could buy at online

It seems to vary a lot by location. If you have a good wheel refurbisher who doesn't retail tyres they're likely to be happy to swap tyres, especially if you've used them/will use them for refurbs

Nationals really aren't interested unless it's a slow day and for cash

I pay a Tenner a wheel for swaps

My local guy don't mind at all having them shipped to his place and he just gives me a bell when they arrive.
Then for new valve, balancing and fitting charges 50quid cash so it's not bad.

3 purchases in a row I'm better off online, so far all 3 times on www.oponeo.co.uk

The nearer central london where I did my tracking last week, does not mind having my tyres shipped to their address.
But when I went there and asked for some prices they were really competitive, 200-210quid per tyre inc valve balance fitting for Verdestein Ultra Sessanta and TOYO Proxes T1 Sport.

What's is annoying is the price of Toyo's which went up by around 40quid per tyre in past 6months, so bloody annoying.
