Default Rns d in early D2

So coming to the last of my mods over lockdown , big thanks on the advice re retro fit solar roof which is great but heavy !
Next is to instal The Nav plus , I was lucky enough to acquire an early pre facelift centre console so just trial fitted the unit today as I had it on the shelf for years ( thanks A8 parts ) so all came on entered the code and got this
Any ideas , I know the code is correct as it is written on the unit as it was supplied
Thanks in advance

Does that mean that the "safe" wire isn't connected in the wiring loom?

Edit: Probably, as stated in this thread: https://www.audiforum.us/threads/cod...i-system.1015/
Can't recall the details but there's a wire that needs a constant +12v (I think) that is usually labelled "SAFE" in diagrams.

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Just Google a wiring diagram for RNS-D and you'll see SAFE on a pin on one of the 8-pin connectors. Just link it to the permanent +12v wire.
Or look on the RNS-D itself, they usually have a label with the plug/pin layout...…..
