I think they wanted to demonstrate how serious they were about not being out without a valid reason here. It's expensive fines everywhere.
Good Friday alone raised over $300,000 in fines!

My 74 year old mother doesn't want to leave her house. She's been able to organise home delivery of groceries (yay!), but has asked me to go around and fill her Gerry Can with petrol for the lawn mower. Her neighbour was going to help her, but has forgotten. Rather than keep bothering him, she's now asked me!
Her place is 20 mins from here, so I rang the local Cop Shop today to see if driving around there to do that job falls under the exemptions to be out!
According to the Belgrave Station Constable, it should fall under the 'Compassionate' exemption... should...

Depends if you consider lawn moving essential, I guess most would say 'no'. But if you were to deliver essential groceries or medicine at the same time then it should be OK.

Is it Gerry Can, I always thought it's Jerry can but then again English is not my first language and there could be regional variations.

Interesting question, and you are correct with Jerrycan.

Here's the source https://www.collinsdictionary.com/di...glish/jerrican which says that the idea was copied from the Germans during WW2. Hence Jerrycan.

My reasoning behind Gerry was German=Gerry, rather than Jerry. Anyway, enough off-topic, I'll go back to calling it Jerry Can (or Jerrycan)!

Australia is doing really well with our "flattening the curve".
I'm not quite sure what our politicians are aiming for at present, if even they know, about some sort of end game. But attached below is today's summary from the Victorian Health department.
Our total active cases in Victoria today stands at 153. Nearly a third of those remaining cases are in hospital.

I hope we don't get complacent and destroy everything we have gained.
Victoria is doing better than most of the country. Most of the country remains shut down on "stage 3" restrictions, with nearly all States having closed their borders for all but essential travel with 14 day quarantine.
A mate of mine travelled to his paddle boat on the Murray in SA before the border closed, and he has no intention of returning until restrictions lift, and there is no talk of relaxing that until at least May currently.

We feel for you lot in 'Blighty'. Hopefully you are nearing your peak, and will be out of this soon too.

As for America... anyone want to be captain of the Titanic? (I've got a heat gun, it will be a game changer!).

Well they're both named after the same Queen (the Era and the State)!
I suppose we should be thankful our capital isn't 'Albert'!

..."i live in Albert, Australia"!
Doesn't sound quite right... thankyou for being Prime Minister and such a good advisor to a young Queen, Lord Melbourne!
